What's Included
Your Day
Rothenburg's Christmas market fills the medieval Marktplatz with wooden stalls, the scent of cinnamon, and the Reiterle — a legendary horseman who leads the souls of the dead. One of Germany's most atmospheric markets.
The world's most famous year-round Christmas shop. Step into a 5,000 sqm wonderland of handcrafted ornaments, nutcrackers, smoker figures, and the iconic rotating Christmas pyramids. Even in December, this place astounds.
Walk the fully intact 14th-century town walls, peek into the Plönlein — Germany's most photographed half-timbered corner — and hear tales of the Meistertrunk legend from the Thirty Years' War.
Warm up with Franconian Glühwein and try the local Schneeball (snowball) — a fried pastry dusted with powdered sugar or dipped in chocolate. Your guide knows the best bakeries in town.

Common Questions
No — the medieval town is beautiful year-round. But December transforms it into something truly special. The combination of medieval architecture, market stalls, and twinkling lights is hard to beat anywhere in Europe.
They're about 1 hour apart — a combined day is possible but tight. You'd get roughly 2 hours at each. We recommend choosing one and doing it properly, or splitting over two days.
A Schneeball (snowball) is Rothenburg's signature pastry — strips of shortcrust dough formed into a ball, deep-fried, and coated in powdered sugar, chocolate, or cinnamon. Locals have been making them for centuries.
