Highlights
What's Included
Your Day
One of Europe's oldest Christmas markets, dating to the 15th century. Wooden huts selling handcrafted ornaments, roasted chestnuts, and Salzburger Punsch glow beneath the fortress and cathedral.
A fairy-tale market set in the grounds of Hellbrunn Palace. The tree-lined avenue is illuminated with thousands of lights, and artisan stalls offer unique gifts you won't find elsewhere.
Take the funicular up to Europe's largest fully preserved medieval fortress. In December, the fortress courtyard hosts its own intimate Advent market with mulled wine and panoramic views over the snow-dusted city.
On select evenings in early December, the terrifying Krampus figures parade through Salzburg's streets — a uniquely Alpine tradition. We can time your visit to coincide with a Krampuslauf if the schedule aligns.

Common Questions
Krampus is the horned companion of St. Nicholas in Alpine tradition. On December 5–6, costumed Krampus figures parade through towns with bells, chains, and switches. It's thrilling but not for the faint-hearted — or very young children.
Of course. The Salzburg Advent markets are magical on their own. The Krampus option is only available on specific dates and is entirely optional.
Salzburg feels more intimate and dramatic — the baroque old town, the fortress above, and smaller-scale markets create a fairy-tale atmosphere. Munich's markets are larger and more varied. Both are worth experiencing.
